Before You Order
Dog toys are not one-size-fits-all. Before ordering, review the information on the individual product page and consider your dog’s size, age, strength, chewing habits and usual style of play.
A toy that is suitable for gentle carrying or cuddling may not be suitable for a powerful chewer. Plush, rope and textured toys are constructed differently and should be selected and used according to their intended type of play.
Choosing an appropriate toy
The toy should be large enough that your dog cannot swallow it or lodge it in the mouth or throat. Product photographs are not a reliable guide to scale, so check any measurements shown on the relevant product page before ordering.

Choosing by toy type
Plush toys
TangleTug plush toys include soft monster-inspired shapes with fluffy, ribbed and multi-texture surfaces. Rounded bodies, limbs, ears, feet and horns provide different places to grab and carry.
Plush toys are best suited to gentle indoor play, carrying, light tossing and supervised cuddling. They are not intended for aggressive or destructive chewing.
Stop use immediately if fabric tears, stitching opens, filling becomes visible or a decorative component becomes loose.
Rope and knot toys
Our rope toys include braided centres, oversized knots, woven loops and tasselled ends. Their elongated shapes provide separate gripping points for supervised tugging, carrying, tossing and retrieving.
Rope toys should not be used as food or left for a dog to pull apart and swallow. Inspect the entire toy regularly and stop use if the rope becomes heavily frayed, loosened or separated.
Textured chew and activity toys
Our textured range includes balls, rings, dumbbells, flying discs and sculptural shapes with raised bumps, curved ridges and grooves.
Depending on the design, these toys may be used for supervised chewing, rolling, chasing, tugging, tossing or fetching. Rounded or irregular shapes may bounce, wobble or change direction during play.
Inspect textured toys for cracks, splits, sharp edges, punctures or missing pieces. Stop use if the toy becomes damaged or small enough to swallow.
Flying discs, balls and retrieving toys
Use retrieving toys in a safe, open area with secure footing and enough space for your dog to move. Avoid throwing towards roads, stairs, glass, furniture, crowds or other animals.
Adjust the distance and intensity of play to your dog’s age, fitness and physical condition. Stop the session if your dog appears tired, uncomfortable or unwilling to continue.
Supervision and safe play
All TangleTug toys must be used under responsible adult supervision.
- Remove all packaging, labels, ties and fasteners before giving the toy to your dog.
- Check the toy before and after every play session.
- Do not allow your dog to swallow fabric, filling, rope fibres, tassels, fragments or detached components.
- Do not allow several dogs to compete over a toy if this may cause unsafe behaviour.
- Keep toys intended for pets away from young children.
- Do not use a damaged toy or attempt to repair it in a way that may create a new hazard.
- Store the toy after play if your dog is likely to damage it when unattended.
No dog toy is indestructible. The life of a toy depends on the individual dog, frequency of use and intensity of chewing, pulling and scratching.
When to stop using a toy
Remove and safely dispose of a toy if you notice:
- Torn or punctured fabric
- Open or loose stitching
- Exposed or missing filling
- Frayed, unravelled or separated rope fibres
- Loose tassels, knots or decorative parts
- Cracks, splits, punctures or sharp edges
- Pieces that have broken off or are small enough to swallow
- A change in shape that makes the toy difficult to use safely
- Persistent odour, mould or contamination that cannot be removed safely
If your dog swallows any part of a toy, experiences choking, injury, vomiting, unusual behaviour or other concerning symptoms, stop use and seek veterinary assistance promptly.
Colour and appearance
We aim to represent product colours accurately, but appearance may vary according to photography, lighting and screen settings.
Small variations in stitching, texture, weave, colour placement or finish may occur. Product photographs may also make a toy appear larger or smaller than it is, so refer to any measurements stated on the individual product page.
General care
Always follow any care instructions provided on the product page, packaging or product label. Product-specific instructions take priority over the general guidance below.

Cleaning by toy type
Plush toys
Unless the product instructions state otherwise, gently surface clean plush toys with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking the filling. Reshape the toy and allow it to air dry completely before use.
Do not use bleach, harsh chemicals, fabric softener or high heat. Do not give a damp plush toy to your dog.
Rope toys
Remove loose dirt with a soft brush or clean cloth. If damp cleaning is appropriate, use a small amount of mild, pet-safe detergent, rinse away all residue and dry the rope thoroughly.
Moisture may remain inside thick knots and braided sections after the surface feels dry. Allow additional drying time and do not store a damp rope toy.
Textured toys
Wipe or rinse textured surfaces only where the product instructions permit it. Pay attention to grooves, openings, ridges and raised bumps where dirt may collect.
Use a soft brush if necessary, rinse thoroughly and allow the toy to dry completely. Do not use boiling water, a dishwasher or high heat unless expressly permitted for that product.
Cleaning products to avoid
Unless specifically approved by the product instructions, do not use:
- Bleach or chlorine-based cleaners
- Strong disinfectants or solvents
- Fabric softener
- Essential oils or heavily fragranced products
- Abrasive cleaning tools
- Boiling water or excessive heat
Always remove cleaning-product residue and ensure the toy is completely dry before use.
Storage
Store toys in a clean, dry and ventilated place. Keep them away from open flame, heaters, excessive sunlight, standing water and household chemicals.
Separate wet or dirty toys from clean toys. Do not seal a damp toy inside a container, as trapped moisture may cause odour, deterioration or mould.
Rotating toys can help you inspect them regularly and select a toy suited to each supervised play session.
Returns and hygiene
Please inspect the product before giving it to your dog. If you may wish to return it, keep all original packaging and tags and do not allow an animal to use, mouth, lick or chew it.
For hygiene and safety reasons, used pet toys may not be eligible for a change-of-mind return. Returned products must satisfy the conditions in our Return & Refund Policy.
